Passive optical networking (PON) is a communication technology used to deliver optical fiber to end users, including home and business users. The distinguishing feature of passive optical networks is that they implement a point-to-multipoint architecture. It uses passive fiber splitters to enable a single fiber to serve multiple end nodes.
