Quectel launches a new generation of flagship module SG865W-WF

On December 15, Quectel announced the launch of a new generation of flagship Android smart module SG865W-WF, and will start to provide engineering samples for customer development and testing from now on. The module is equipped with Qualcomm SoC chip QCS8250, with powerful performance and rich multimedia functions. It will meet the industrial and consumer AIoT scenarios that have higher requirements for high computing power, AI performance and multimedia functions, and accelerate video conferencing, cloud games, digital signage, High-end IoT applications such as drones, robots, and smart retail are effectively implemented.

As the AIoT Internet of Things has become a new trend in the development of the Internet of Things, in addition to achieving interconnection and intercommunication through 5G, LTE, LPWA and other wireless networks, many devices also need to conduct real-time analysis and interactive sharing of the massive data generated to achieve local autonomous decision-making. And responsiveness, etc., which require the terminal to have more efficient edge computing capabilities and audio and video processing capabilities to meet the key needs of the industry’s digitalization in agile connection, real-time business, data optimization, application intelligence, etc.

The SG865W-WF module released by Quectel is equipped with Qualcomm SoC chip QCS8250, which integrates eight-core high-performance Kryo 585 CPU, Adreno 650 GPU, Adreno 995 DPU, Hexagon DSP and Spectra 480 ISP. It adopts 7nm process and comprehensive calculation. With a power of up to 15TOPS, it can provide sufficient computing power support for edge computing, making computing-intensive IoT applications such as smart cameras, video collaboration, smart medical, and smart retail more efficient in performance and bringing a better smart experience.

Thanks to the powerful video processing capabilities of QCS8250, Quectel SG865W-WF module can provide excellent high-definition video encoding and decoding performance, up to 8K@30fps video encoding or 8K@60fps video decoding, up to 64 million pixels of photo and video capture , And up to 7 groups of cameras.

SG865W-WF supports Android 10 operating system, and the default onboard storage is 8 GB LPDDR5 + 64 GB UFS.

In terms of communication performance, the SG865W-WF module supports Wi-Fi 6.0, Bluetooth 5.1 and 2×2 Wi-Fi MIMO multiple antenna technology.

With rich peripheral interfaces such as dual USB, multiple PCIe and UART, this product can seamlessly connect with Quectel’s LTE module EC20, 5G module RG500Q and GNSS module and other products, allowing customer terminals to flexibly access 4G /5G network connection, with faster and more precise positioning, and more choices in terminal design.
