Description
Cisco Catalyst 9500 Series Switches are the next-generation enterprise-class core and aggregation layer switches that provide comprehensive self-programming and self-maintenance capabilities.
Based on x86 CPUs, the Catalyst 9500 Series is Cisco’s dedicated non-modular core and aggregation layer enterprise switching platform designed for security, the Internet of Things and the cloud. The switches are available with a 4-core 2.4 GHz CPU, 16 GB of DDR4 memory and 16 GB of internal storage.
Cisco Catalyst 9500 Series Switches Overview
1, The Catalyst 9500 Series is the industry’s first dedicated 40 Gigabit Ethernet switch product line designed for enterprise campuses. This family of switches provides unparalleled table size (MAC/routing/ACL) and buffering for enterprise applications. The Catalyst 9500 Series includes non-blocking 40G four-channel small form factor hot-swap (QSFP) and 10G enhanced small form factor hot-swap (SFP+) switches with granular port densities to meet different campus needs. This family of switches supports advanced routing and infrastructure services (such as Multiprotocol Label Switching [MPLS] Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPN, Multicast VPN [MVPN], Network Address Translation [NAT]); software-defined access boundary functions (eg host tracking database,
2, Cross-domain connectivity, VPN routing, and forwarding [VRF] awareness, location/ID separation protocol [LISP]), and network system virtualization based on Cisco StackWise® virtual technology (important for deploying these switches to campus cores). The platform also supports all basic high-availability features such as hot patching, smooth insertion, and removal (GIR), Cisco non-disruptive forwarding with state switching (NSF/SSO), Platinum-class redundant power supplies, and fans.

Cisco Catalyst 9500 Series Switches Advantage
Concerning advanced persistent security threats, exponential growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) devices, ubiquitous mobility, adoption of the cloud, and all these trends must adopt a network switching matrix that combines advanced hardware and software innovation. Automate customer networks while protecting and simplifying customer networks.
The goal of this network switching matrix is to increase customer revenue by accelerating the deployment of business services.
Cisco’s fully digital network architecture (Cisco DNATM) with software-defined access (SD-Access) is the network switching matrix that powers the business.
It is a software-driven and scalable open architecture that accelerates and simplifies the operation of your corporate network.
With a programmable architecture, your IT staff can free themselves from time-consuming, repetitive network configuration tasks and focus on innovation that positively changes the business. SD-Access enables policy-based automation from the edge to the cloud through basic functionality.
These features include:
- Simplified device deployment
- Unified management of wired and wireless networks
- Network virtualization and segmentation
- Group-based strategy
- Scenario-based analysis
The Cisco® Catalyst® 9500 Series Switch is the primary component of Cisco’s leading enterprise architecture – software-defined access.
