Patch Cord SS-OP-D-LC-S-20 Product Overview
Optical fiber patch cord (also known as optical fiber connector) means that connector plugs are installed at both ends of the optical cable to realize the active connection of the optical path; A plug at one end is called a pigtail. Optical Fiber Patch Cord/Cable is similar to coaxial cable, except that there is no mesh shielding. In the center is a glass core where light travels. In multimode fibers, the diameter of the core is 50μm~65μm, which is roughly the thickness of a human hair. The diameter of the single-mode fiber core is 8μm~10μm. The outside of the core is surrounded by a glass envelope with a lower refractive index than the core to keep the fiber inside the core. Outside is a thin plastic jacket to protect the envelope.
(1) FC type optical fiber jumper: the external reinforcement method is metal sleeve, and the fastening method is screw buckle. Generally used on the ODF side (most commonly used on patch panels)
(2) SC type optical fiber patch cord: the connector connected to the GBIC optical module, its shell is rectangular, and the fastening method is plug-in and unplugged pin latch, which does not need to be rotated. (Most used on routers and switches)
(3) ST type optical fiber jumper: often used in optical fiber distribution frame, the shell is round, and the fastening method is screw buckle. (For 10Base-F connections, the connector is usually ST type.) Commonly used in optical fiber distribution frames)
(4) LC type fiber optic patch cord: the connector connecting the SFP module, which is made of the easy-to-operate modular jack (RJ) latching mechanism.

- Lightning speed: How fast is fast? Fiber optic cables can transmit data at rates up to 800 Gbps (today’s data center maximum, but theoretically rates could be even faster). Broadband internet services leverage those cables to deliver some of the fastest internet speeds to millions of customers.
- Greater bandwidth: Fiber optics can transmit a wide range of light frequencies, transferring more data at higher throughput. Per esempio, a single fiber connection can transfer a movie in HD format in less than a tenth of a second; the typical copper-wire office network would take about a minute to do the same task.
- Less data loss: Loss or attenuation is a performance measure in cabling and network standards. Optical fiber is less susceptible to data loss from electromagnetic interference from power cabling, radio signals, and even solar flares.
